Some customers of UK cable broadband, TV and phone operator Virgin Media have been left confused and frustrated by support staff after they were given conflicting information about the fate of ‘Line Rental Saver’, which offers a discount in return for annually pre-paying your line rental charge.

The telecoms regulator has today published their latest Q2 2018 update to last year’s Connected Nations report, which uses more recent data from April 2018 to provide the latest coverage statistics for UK mobile and fixed line broadband networks. For example, “full fibre” (FTTP) coverage has risen to 5% (1.4 million premises).

Telecoms giant Openreach (BT) has today announced that the city of Coventry in the West Midlands of England will be the next to benefit from their “Fibre First” programme, which aims to deploy 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP technology to cover 3 million premises by the end of 2020.
