Several homes in the tiny rural Monmouthshire (Wales) village of Llanddewi Rhydderch can now access broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps thanks to a new 5G style trial, which has been supported by funding from the UK Government alongside solutions from Broadway Partners and Cambridge Communication Systems.
Mobile operator O2 (Telefonica), which is currently home to a UK customer base of 32.6 million, has today announced that they will commence the roll-out of their next generation ultrafast 5G (mobile broadband) network during 2019. Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone have today announced that they’ll soon be launching a new cloud controlled “smart home network” solution for customers of their home broadband service, which will work to deliver “fast, reliable, Wi-Fi signal to every corner of the home.”
Fibre optic network developer Cityfibre has today announced that they’ve appointed City Development Managers for their “city wide” 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network builds in Huddersfield (£30m project) and Leeds (£120m). Local homes will be supplied via UK ISP Vodafone.
