Rural UK Full Fibre ISP B4RN Partners ZyXEL for School Routers

Rural focused UK ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), which is working with volunteers to help fund and build a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network in remote areas, has partnered ZYXEL to offer their AX7501 router for free to 21 schools in Lancashire, South Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.

ISP Schools Broadband Offers 4G Solution to Get Kids Online

A specialist ISP for the UK education market, Schools Broadband, has today launched a new Mobile Broadband (4G or 5G) product to help digitally disadvantaged pupils with working from home, while still being able to receive the same security and “Prevent” compliant content filtering as they would if sat in a school.

Ookla Updates on COVID-19 Impact on UK Broadband ISP Speeds

Internet speed testing firm Ookla (Speedtest.net) has issued an update on the impact of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis on fixed broadband and mobile broadband speeds across the United Kingdom. The update notes that, between 2nd March and 20th April 2020, fixed lines saw a tiny -3% decrease while mobile recorded a +3% increase.

£24m Cityfibre 1Gb FTTH Broadband Build Progress in Ipswich

Full fibre developer Cityfibre appears to have recently started the build phase of their new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) based broadband ISP network in the Suffolk (England) town of Ipswich, which is expected to cost the operator around £24 million to complete by the autumn of 2022.
