YouView-STB-Humax-First-Generation-Box

Owners of the first generation of YouView (IPTV) powered Pay TV set-top-boxes (e.g. the retail Humax T1010), including the Humax T1000 from UK broadband ISP BT and the Huawei DN370T from TalkTalk (TT Plus Box), have been informed that they will “no longer be able to access” the ITV Hub app from January 2022.

Broadband ISP and network builder Upp, which is investing £1bn to rollout a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to 1 million UK premises in Eastern England by 2025, has today chosen Emtelle to become their main supplier of fibre optic network kit until March 2026.

Internet provider Plusnet has finally restored their embattled UK email service after a week of chaos, but its long-term future may now be in doubt after the ISP placed the service “under review.” A number of customers have allegedly also been told by the provider’s support staff that the email platform would close in 2022.

Openreach (BT) has today officially added another 170 new towns and villages (covering 1.5 million premises) to the UK rollout plan of their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which are all the same as those we published last month (here). The news comes as they reach 6 million premises passed.

The latest data gathered by Numbeo, which is a crowd-sourced global database that examines the cost of living, has surveyed the cost of fixed broadband ISP provision across 109 countries and found that the United Kingdom ranked as the 39th most expensive country, with an average monthly cost of £30.87.
