The first rural homes to benefit from faster broadband under Phase 4 of the Superfast North Yorkshire (SFNY) project, which reflects a partnership between NYnet, a North Yorkshire County Council-owned broadband company, and UK ISP Quickline Communications, have just gone live in the village of Picton.

Jisc, which provides network and IT services to education institutions, has chosen Neos Networks to deliver their new Dark Fibre network, which will serve their sites (e.g. Universities and Research Centres) in the North West of England with data speeds of up to 100Gbps (Gigabits per second).

Sky’s (Sky Broadband) UK ISP sibling for small businesses, Sky Connect, has today launched their first Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband packages. Sky claims they’re the only business ISP to offer ‘Speed Flex’, a dedicated account manager, 4G back-up and internet security as standard on all their ultrafast Full Fibre packages.

New customers of Three UK‘s 5G powered unlimited Home Broadband service, which claims to offer “average download speeds” of 100Mbps (this will vary.. a lot), can now take the service from just £21 per month for 24-months of service (dropping to £14 on their 4G package). Various other discount options also exist.

Mobile operator Smarty will today finally switch-on their new ultrafast 5G mobile (mobile broadband) service, which will be available at “no extra cost” for both new and existing customers who want to take advantage of the improved data speeds.
