The FreedomTruespeed Group (FTG), which reflects the recent merger between alternative broadband networks Freedom Fibre and Truespeed (here), has today announced that customers of Truespeed’s retail ISP can now order broadband packages over FF’s original full fibre (FTTP) network in the North West and Midlands of England.

The London Borough of Camden has revealed that they’re “exploring options” for potentially launching a second pilot of the Connected London public WiFi programme, which last year saw the Westminster City Council (here) area introduce a free public Wi-Fi network trial using single sign-on (OpenRoaming) technology.

The UK Government has this morning announced that their publicly subsidised Project Gigabit broadband roll-out contracts, signed with alternative network ISP Quickline, have so far enabled over 60,000 homes and businesses in hard-to-reach areas across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to access faster internet speeds.

Starlink V5 Terminal and Kit Upside Down

In another annoying and somewhat perplexing development for fans of SpaceX’s popular Starlink broadband service in the UK, the company has revealed that their next generation V5 dish terminal for consumers will NOT support ‘Standby Mode‘. This is in addition to the lack of support for in-motion use, such as on top of a caravan or boat (due to lack of an integrated GPS).
