APFN Sells Brillband’s Retail UK Broadband Customers to ISP Olilo

Network operator AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN, Fern Trading) has today confirmed that they’ve sold the retail base of their last consumer broadband ISP, Brillband, to internet provider Olilo for an undisclosed sum. The move comes after APFN did the same with Cuckoo (sold to Onestream) earlier in the year (here).

Openreach Says UK Full Fibre Broadband Usage Jumped 37 Percent in H1 2026

The Director of Network Technology at national UK broadband operator Openreach (BT), Trevor Linney, has today reported that “full fibre usage” – driven by live TV video streaming and new video game updates – across their network increased by 37% in the first half of 2026, compared with the same period last year.

OneWeb Broadband Satellites Help Lift LEO Revenues 69.5 Percent at Eutelsat

European satellite operator Eutelsat just published their results for the year ended 30th June 2026 and reported that their revenues from OneWeb’s constellation of ultrafast broadband satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) “beat expectations“, jumping by 69.5% to €297m (accounting for 25% of the group’s overall revenues).

Giant Broadband Launch Free UK Network-Level Internet Security Service

Liverpool-based UK ISP Giant has introduced a new network-level internet content filtering and security service called ‘Guardian‘ for their customers, which is available for free on all of their broadband packages and is designed to “work across every connected device — no downloads or per-device setup required“.

Ofcom UK Blocked 481,521 Malicious Emails Over the Past 3 Years

A recent Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed that the UK telecoms, internet content and media regulator, Ofcom, blocked a total of 481,521 “malicious emails” between June 2023 and February 2026 (472,936 phishing and 8,585 malware emails). But this figure excludes SPAM (junk marketing) emails, which are likely to be much higher.

Copper Cable Thieves Knock Out Broadband Near St Neots for a Third Time

A criminal gang has, for a third time since the start of last year (see here and here), this week disrupted Openreach’s broadband services around part of the Cambridgeshire (England) town of St Neots by stealing 500 metres worth of the UK network operator’s local copper telecoms cables.

EE Cuts Contract Buyout to £200 for New UK Broadband Customers

New customers looking to take a home broadband package from EE may like to know that the ISP has reduced the value of the Contract Buyout (i.e. Switching Credits) they offer from “up to” £300 to £200, except if you take both broadband and a TV bundle in which case the original value is maintained.
