CityFibre were doing a full FTTH roll-out in our area and when it was finally available, I looked at all the provider options.
iDNET seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I was used to ~Gbit with my existing provider, so the Gigabit option seemed a no-brainer. Only, instead of 1000/50 which I already had, it was 1000/1000! Pricing was reasonable, so I took the plunge, even though I was still in contract with my existing ISP.
I had an initial issue with the install - the contractor fluffed the dates, didn't turn up and I had to rearrange. iDNET was great and got it sorted ASAP.
On the actual install date, the installation contractors were great. I wanted the GPON further from the initial fibre entry point than they usually install (next to my network cabinet down in the kitchen). I did provide a conduit to make it easier for them. After some discussion, they spliced a longer length of fibre for me.
At first everything seemed fine (speed tests were great), but I had a few problems with general interner browsing. It seemed my router (Ubiquiti UDM Pro) was having a problem with implementing the correct MTU settings needed for PPPoE. Tech support were excellent, and with their help, I finally got it sorted out.
Since then, everything has worked perfectly. Speeds have been great (upload and download) and I've not had a single service interruption.
