Vispa Broadband, it just works, all the time. After 5 years as a Vispa customer, I think I've had two problems. Both times customer support was quickly available by UK phoneline or e-mail, was friendly and not at all techno-babble. Just solved the problem for me. A good, personal service. Not the cheapest, but probably the best for reliability, support and advice.

I particularly like the fact that when a problem is reported, it is allocated to a named member of staff who I can e-mail or 'phone to discuse the solution.

I have been with Vispa broadband for four years now. It isn't the cheapest provider, but it has certainly been reliable - to the extent that I can remember each of the very few times there have been problems during those years. In fact, I'm not entirely sure what to answer about the support side because I have had so little need to make use of it. Being quite a small firm also means that they have a personal approach - not some anonymous hugely expensive call centre. I have considered looking for a cheaper option, but I think it is worth sticking with such a sound and reliable ISP. Viva la Vispa!

Moved to Vispa when ADSL became available on my exchange as my then provider (Surfanytime) were not ready to provide ADSL in my area. Service was good, communication excellent, and technical support prompt and personal. Indeed all communication was prompt and personal, even when I came to ask for an MAC code to leave. This was prompted purely by Vispa lagging behind in their pricing, as ?23.99 for 512Kb ADSL is quite expensive and although they offered to drop this slightly I still felt I could do better elsewhere. If you can afford the pricing however I would still recommend them as I have had no other complaints in 18 months or so.

I agree completely with the comments expressed today by the previous reviewer. Vispa's technical competence is simply not up to the job of being an ISP. I am writing this from a Yahoo mailbox because my normal Vispa-hosted domain is down yet again, for the fourth consecutive day. Last time they bombed I was a fortnight without email or website, and all because they didn't manage their backups properly. (Can you believe an ISP having only one copy of their data backup? Vispa did. So when that one copy got corrupted they were sunk.) There is no excuse for such sloppy management practice. Vispa needs new and competent technical management, but I can't wait for that. Like the previous reviewer I'm moving on - again!

Very impressed indeed with the knowledgable support and the degree to which they make effort to help. Virgin never lived up to their proclaimed speeds for me, were slow to do anything and found it difficult to answerthe phone. (One day I sat holding the phone for 20 minutes on 3 separate occasions - morning, afternoon and night. Thatwas the day I knew I'd leave them. How can you have a phone company that won't talk to you?) No such thing with Vispa. They arranged the new phone line installation and did all they could to help at every turn. We were unsuccessful at transferring my old number to the new line but that was not their fault - neither BT nor Virgin were interested in being at all helpful, much as I guessed. Every business exists to supply a service (even productive industries) when they don't they are not worth bothering with. The whole process took about a month or five weeks most of which time was waiting on BT or Virgin. Obviously, I had toget a new modem/router too as I was switching from optical to copper wire but the installation set up was easy withVispa on the phone. I went for a BT Voyager 2110 since I'd heard good reports. Since I run Debian GNU/Linux at home then sometimes I wish to download an installation DVD. The Debian folk like this  to be done with bittorrent or jigdo to easy the load on the server. (www.uk.debian.org the official UK mirror sits on a home PC in Durham) So far this is the only thing I've not been able to do. Vispa have tried to help all they can but it is looking like a configuration issue at my end. I think it is to do with the Voyager but I've not got to the bottom of it. Standard downloading and Debian upgrading (root# aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade) works just fine with excellent download speeds.

I always consider customer service to be the most important factor when choosing a product and this especially applies with an ISP. Vispa so far have been very fast to respond and very helpful.

Setting up was a breeze. There were some teething problems with line speed which I was told were due to line calibration period. Today I noticed a huge speed increase and will see if this continues. The only other problem was some minor clitches on forum registration.

So, so far so good and pleased I have chosen Vispa over some of the other providers who spin a good sales pitch, but never really deliver.

Having had a few bad experiences with cheaper ISP's and being a fair distance from the exchange I decided upon recomendation to give Vispa a try.  I was paying £25 or thereabouts for upto 1mb with an average speed of about 0.5mb.

Vispa were the only company that said "yes we can try and get you a connection, can't promise anything but if we fail you won't have to pay"

Which I though was pretty damn good, as it turned out I could get a connection just not a fast one which is more a problem of where I was living at the time than the ISP.

After I moved house I went back to cable as it was the fastest available option, the service and tech support with the big boys is just absolutely sh*t (I work in IT and so resolve my own issues were possible) and can not even be considered to be in the same league as Vispa who are in my opinion the best ISP out there, if they ever offer fibre to the kerb I will be the first to migrate.

I rated these guys 10 for speed not because the line speed was fast but because they got me the fastest speed possible when all other companies said I couldn't have broadband and 10 for value because for £25.00 the service given was absolutely brilliant!

If you pay peanuts you will get monkeys!

After trying a number of providers over the years, and there have been a few! This ISP was a good move for me. Expect to pay a couple of pounds extra but the customer service is worth that alone. Cheshire call centre, polite and more than helpful. I moved to Vispa after seeing them in the top 6 ISPA 2008 award listings, cant say fairer than that and nice to see the smaller boys can, take on the big lads. Very pleased so far.

I have recently migrated to vispa from AOL. I have had a fault with my broadband for the last 4 weeks which AOL refused to report to BT. Since calling vispa and explaining my situation, they agreed to report the fault upon migrating. A few days later, sure enough it was fixed! Superb customer service. For me, it is well worth the extra couple of pound per month just to be looked after. The speed has also improved too.

Not the cheapest, but worth the extra in my view. Line speed always maintained - fixed 1Mb (rural area far from the exchange)with no download limits. Excellent, friendly, helpful sales and support. Very few problems, always fixed quickly, so far always by the first person to answer the phone (never been passed from pillar to post). Most recently; speedy response to request to upgrade service (
