Aquiss truly sets itself apart in the world of ISPs, excelling in both customer service and connection quality. Having navigated through various ISPs over the years, my experience with Aquiss has been exceptional. After spending nearly a decade with VM, I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive speeds and the exemplary customer service Aquiss offers. Despite already having an ONT in my property in a less-than-ideal location, Aquiss arranged for a fresh installation via Openreach. The engineers expertly placed the new ONT in the perfect spot, optimising the ethernet run to my comms cabinet.

The setup guides for PPPoE connections on the Aquiss website are superb, and the inclusion of a fixed IP and IPv6 as standard are a fantastic bonus. The speeds on my 1Gbps (900Mbps) connection are consistently impressive. Although my interactions with customer service have been minimal, it is comforting to know I am communicating directly with my ISP rather than through a Managed Service Provider. This experience brings back memories of the days when ISPs were managed by people who genuinely cared about the quality of their service. Aquiss is a refreshing reminder of what an excellent ISP should be, combining reliability with a personal touch that is rare in today's market.

When FTTP/H became available in my area I took a risk and went with BT as they were the only service provider offering 1Gbps. I had hoped that as a business they may have improved, alas I was sorely disappointed: Their router is not fit for a Gigabit (900Mbps as BT call it) service, it's the same hub used for VDSL so you instantly lose an ethernet port. As for the customer service, the people clearly try but there still seems to be the attitude that "We're the incumbent we can do as we please, if you don't like it go elsewhere (once you're no longer locked in).. Avoid at ALL costs. As for the speed, I'm lucky if I get over 700Mbps but as that's above their speed guarantee they don't seem to care! Honestly if I could give them zero I would.
*Update* Following a lot of testing of different config, I have found that with BT's hub connected to the ONT, the wifi off and my router in Access Point mode I hit an average of 800Mbps however when I'm using my router to establish the connection I am lucky to get more than 500Mbps. All the same cables are used in both setups only with the addition of another CAT6a cable from the ONT to the BT Hub. Quite honestly I am beyond furious and will go back to Virgin Media (yes I can't believe I'm saying that) as soon as the contract is over.

When I initially signed up in-store I got what I thought was a good deal, unfortunately at the time my area was over-subscribed. After 6 months (of massively discounted broadband) I finally got the speeds I was paying for. That was 1.5 years ago and, for a while everything was fine. Alas, 6 months ago things started to go awry, the hub regularly rebooting itself despite being in modem mode. However as support are so insistent the issue was my router, the hub is back in router mode and I'm still having issues, with constantly dropped connections making working from home almost impossible. I'm currently waiting for my 2nd engineer visit in as many months. Whilst the service has been unreliable it's the only ultra-fast supplier in the area so I've had to stick with them. This is all about to change as FTTP via the Openreach network seems to be coming soon. The only take away from this is the customer service teams and the engineers have been lovely and super helpful.
