BT has today revealed which UK telephone exchanges will be upgraded to support its "advanced copper" 20Mbps (ADSL2+) broadband ISP services, which will make it available to 90% of homes and businesses by Spring 2013.

Scotland claims that UK government funding of GBP68.8m to help 90% of people access superfast broadband services by 2015, which was announced yesterday, has fallen well "short" of its expectations. The Scottish Government originally envisaged an investment of between GBP200m and GBP300m to achieve its goals.

The UK government has today allocated its remaining superfast broadband deployment budget of GBP530m to county councils around the country, which will now take responsibility from the BDUK office and must ensure 90% of the country can access superfast internet connectivity by 2015. A UK based fibre optic broadband ISP, NextGenUs, has accused BSkyB ( Sky Broadband ) of using its muscle to block their attempts to promote a rival service through Hull's (Yorkshire) shopping centres. Ironically Sky's service isn't even available in the region.

TalkTalk, a budget priced UK internet access provider, has revealed some insightful new network statistics. Apparently peak broadband internet usage, 35 Terabytes of data in one day, occurred on the day that Sony finally managed to restore its Playstation Network (PSN) service after an earlier hack.
