BT Launches FREE Location Based London Wi-Fi Service

BT has launched a trial of its new location-based service over Wi-Fi in the Borough of Westminster. MyPlace is a free personal, location-based, information service that works with any wireless device using the BT Openzone outdoor Wi-Fi Hotspot network.
After registering preferences such as favourite food, shops or activities, users are sent nearby recommendations based on these favourites and their location. The services content is funded through simple on-site advertising:
MyPlace is on trial for six months from today, though customers wanting to use the wider Internet over BT's outdoor Wi-Fi network will still pay as usual.

Chris Bruce, general manager, BT Openzone said: "Unlike a classic city guide, BT MyPlace is personalised to your interests and location. Because it is delivered over the BT Openzone outdoor Wi-Fi network it also offers a faster and more reliable internet service that can be accessed on thousands of devices."
