Title: O2
Having moved recently from TalkTalk where I was on a decently priced service (Phone and broadband) which failed to help me resolve a long standing problem, my experience of O2 (Premium subscription) has been in 3 weeks simply excellent.

Sign up is clear and well managed. Updates all along the way and up to activation. On-line customer portal is well laid out and easy to work with.

The speed is excellent and has enabled me to get the most from my line on ADSL2+ Annex A. While it's an interleaved network, the pings are better (30ms) for my line. I'm up to 14meg down and 1.2 meg down which due to technical issues on my copper pairs is unlikely to have been resolved with TT simply because their phone support is very poor (although their on-line is an improvement, but still not direct enough).

On-line support is responsive (albeit basic). Phone Tech Support for 1st and 2nd line are courteous, professional and customer focused. In 3 weeks, I have several analysts working with me through the steps and had 2 BT engineers to finally diagnose and resolve the copper pairs issue to the exchange. As a new customer, imagine my delight from going from 6/0.5 to 14/1.2!! Big credit to these guys.

O2 Router (Thomson box) works well and I don't need my old Netgears (yet). On-line help via forums are equally useful (albeit not officially attached to O2 as far as I know).

One caveat - when dealing with tech support, it's always worth doing your homework (if possible) on the jargon, tools and your home wiring to make things easier when dealing with support who naturally have to run through the steps before they can recognise ownership of any issues.

Overall, a well priced service (you get a discount if you're an O2 customer). Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Having said all that, their current promotions (fee for 1st 3 months) used with Cashback sites make it an even better deal.

Thoroughly Recommended.

Moved over to AAISP from O2 back in May 2011. Decision was based purely on requirement for strong technical support and customer services which I was willing to pay more on in moving from ADSL2+ to FTTC. Quite a big cost jump for me from O2 (who were an excellent provider when I used them).

That said, they are truly an excellent ISP. Connection has never been a problem and their incident management and communication to blips and faults when they seldomly happen is top notch and leaves me assured of being in good hands.

You get access to a your own control pages to tweak settings on your line, monitor usage and do other things probably I'm not that tech savvy to understand.

Understanding their tariff pricing on usage, may require some changes in your household on what to do during the day and evenings/weekends.

Service has been fantastic. On rare occasions where the overall ISP usage has been high and speed dropped down, they've bought extra capacity and told customers. I mean, how good is that!

I think AASIP are suited to business and technical types of customers who will appreciate all the expertise available. The Director even published his own straight-talking blog, which provides insight into the challenges his company faces with the big telco's and the latest on technical enhancements they are planning for services.

Recently, became part of the FTTC trial and notched up speeds of 54 down and 13 up in speedtests. Amazing what can be done on a partly copper line nowadays.

Kudos AAISP.
