As widely expected the BBC has officially confirmed that it will take an additional £300m from its TV Licence Fee (formerly the 3.5% Digital Switchover Budget) to help the UK government roll-out superfast broadband (25Mbps+) ISP services around the country.

Telecoms regulator Ofcom UK has today proposed to grant Fibrewave Networks the power to “carry out street works” as part of its plan to roll-out a new rural fibre optic based superfast broadband ISP network in Cambridgeshire, which will initially cover the villages of Earith, Bluntisham and Colne.

Mobile operator T-Mobile UK (Everything Everywhere) has scrapped tethering support for Mobile Broadband connections on its £36 per month Full Monty Plan, which originally claimed to offer unlimited calls, texts and data usage with “no fair use restrictions“.

BTOpenreach, which manages access to BT’s national UK telecoms network, has set a date for the introduction of its new Cancel Other Expedite (COE) process. This is designed to help consumers switch phone and or broadband providers when their old ISP “misuses” the current Cancel Other process to prevent a migration.
