The Director of broadband ISP Andrews & Arnold (AAISP), Adrian Kennard, has criticised electronics giant LG after it was revealed that at least some of the firms internet-enabled smart televisions were collecting and sending a wealth of their owners personal viewing habits and other content to a remote collection server, with no way to disable it.

BandRich has today claimed that its outdoor E500 router successfully managed to achieve average Internet download speeds of 36.49Mbps (Megabits), which occured at the edge of the network during EE’s recent trial of a new Fixed Wireless 4G (LTE at 1800MHz) based Home Broadband service in rural Cumbria (England, UK).

Liv Garfield has confirmed that she will step down from her role as the boss of BTOpenreach during spring 2014 and will instead become the new CEO of water company Severn Trent. Openreach is responsible for maintaining and providing access to BT’s national telecoms and broadband ISP network across the United Kingdom.

The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has confirmed the launch of a new £25m Internet Safety Campaign with the country’s largest broadband ISPs that aims to help educate parents about how best to keep their children safe from adult Internet content. The move is expected to precede the re-announcement of new Internet filtering measures.

The new solution is a free addition and has been designed to block (censor) websites that contain “adult content“.
