Apparently businesses and residents in the large town of Slough (Berkshire, England) may soon be able to benefit from the roll-out of a new “Virtual Fibre To The Home Gigabit Wireless” broadband network, although it won’t come cheap and faces competition from local fixed line ISPs.

UK ISPs EE, BT and TalkTalk have managed to collect the greatest proportion of consumer complaints for their fixed line broadband services, at least that’s one way of reading Ofcom’s Q1 2016 consumer complaints report. Meanwhile Virgin Media and Sky Broadband attracted the fewest gripes.

Satellite Solutions Worldwide, which owns Satellite broadband ISP Europasat, has effectively doubled its customer base to around 35,000 users across Europe by acquiring rival UK provider Avonline for a cool £10m. A further undisclosed payment may also be made, depending upon performance.

Internet provider BT has cut the monthly price of their standard (up to 17Mbps ADSL2+) Unlimited Broadband package to just £5 per month and their superfast (up to 38Mbps FTTC) Unlimited Infinity 1 service has also been reduced to £10 per month. New customers will also get a BT Reward Card worth between £50 and £100.
