John Henry Group Appoints Ex-Virgin Media MD as non-Executive Chairman

The John Henry Group, which helps to build new fibre optic broadband and telecoms infrastructure for major UK operators, has appointed the former Managing Director of Virgin Media Business, Mark Heraghty, to be its new Non-Executive chairman.

Openreach (BT) has launched a new special offer for ISPs across the United Kingdom, which will allow customers on slower speed Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) based broadband lines to be upgraded to a faster tier for no extra charge (valid for orders between 1st April and 30th September 2017).

UK Government Preps New Rural Business Broadband Voucher Scheme

Several Government MPs have hinted that the forthcoming 2017 Budget announcement on the 8th March will see a rural-focused reincarnation of the Connection Voucher scheme, which gifted grants of up to £3,000 to help smaller UK businesses get a superfast broadband (30Mbps+) service installed.

BT Join the Telecom Infra Project and Facebook to Build Future Telecoms Tech

BT has today announced a new partnership with Facebook and in relation to that they’ve also joined the global Telecom Infra Project (TIP), which is aimed at helping the operator to develop a future generation of telecoms, broadband infrastructure and digital services.

F4RN Begin Phase 2 of FTTH Broadband Network in Fiskerton and Morton

The community funded and built Fibre for Rural Nottinghamshire (F4RN) project, which has been inspired by B4RN and aims to cover the whole of rural Fiskerton and Morton with a 100Mbps+ Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network, has completed its first roll-out phase and connected 83 customers.
