Cable ISP Virgin Media UK appears to be running a new time limited promotion that doubles the service speeds on certain VIVID home broadband bundles “at no additional cost“, which sees a number of 50Mbps and 100Mbps packages being increased to 100Mbps and 200Mbps respectively.

The Welsh Government has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that since 2016 they’ve offered funding to 3,300 individual applicants under the Access Broadband Cymru (ABC) and Ultrafast Connectivity Voucher (UCV) schemes, with 1,700 of those taking advantage of the offer to improve their broadband (total of £1.2m provided).

The Zayo Group has announced that they intend to expand the reach of their metro fibre optic data network around the UK’s capital city, which will involve the construction of a new fibre route that runs from Hatfield in Hertfordshire to Stratford in East London.

Energy provider and UK ISP First Utility (Shell) will next week begin bundling a variety of different smart home devices alongside selected energy and home broadband products “at no extra cost.” The offer launches on 15th October running till 19th November for broadband and 22th November for energy tariffs.

The Welsh Government has today confirmed that it will be making a statement on the new “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) contract next week, which could be worth up to £200m and tentatively aims to reach an additional 88,000 premises in poorly served areas. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a second Vodafone TV advert featuring actor Martin Freeman, which occurred after 11 complainants said the promotion “misleadingly” implied that Mobile customers could leave their contract at any time. Instead they could only do so within the first 30 days of service.
