Vodafone has today launched a new trade-in tool via their MyVodafone app, which aims to makes it easier for people to exchange their existing mobile handsets as they upgrade to the latest technology and could “help overcome the issues that have put people off trading in their phones in the past.” But you’ll need an iPhone.

UK ISP KCOM, which is investing a further £100m to extend the availability of their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, have today confirmed the next phase of their expansion. This will see them cross the Humber Bridge to cover 10,000 properties in North Lincolnshire for the first time.

Property developer Persimmon Homes has announced that their sibling ISP FibreNest, which caters for many of the new homes they build via a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (around 10,000 connections so far), has signed a deal with business telecoms provider Gamma to improve their voice services.

The seemingly rapid progress of Openreach’s (BT) move to replace their old copper phone services with a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network has today prompted Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator, to reconsider their time-line for the withdrawal of copper services.

Ofcom has this morning opened an investigation to examine whether or not BT is complying with their obligations under the new UK Universal Service Obligation (USO), which requires them to help deliver at least a 10Mbps broadband download speed, upon request, to those in poorly served areas.

The BT Group has announced that they’re testing two electric vans from LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company), which are actually TX taxis that have been converted to become prototypes of their new VN5 model. The new vans should complement Openreach’s recent move (here) to adopt a growing number of EVs into their fleet.
