Mobile benchmarking firm RootMetrics has today published a general comparison of 5G based mobile (mobile broadband) speeds and availability across 13 of the United Kingdom’s key cities, which sees Glasgow take the top spot on an aggregated average (median) download speed of 144.3Mbps and availability of 28.3%.
However, ignoring speed, the city with the highest 5G availability was Liverpool on 41.4%, although it only managed to achieve a median download of 125.4Mbps (Megabits per second). The results for this study essentially aggregate the performance and availability data from EE (BT), Vodafone, O2 (VMO2) and Three UK combined.
RootMetrics usually conducts their real-world style studies by harnessing 5G Smartphones (e.g. Samsung) that have been purchased off the shelf from operator stores. The testing itself is then conducted during both the day and night across the cities, while walking and driving around them. Sadly, today’s report doesn’t include any information on how much sample data was collected.
The full results are below and if you want to know how each mobile operator performed in each location then the company’s prior results, which were published last month, can be found here.
