ISP TalkTalk to Acquire Shell Energy’s UK Broadband Customers

News reports claim that the Octopus Energy Group will shortly sell Shell Energy’s remaining internet and phone customers, reflecting a total base of around 480,000, to budget broadband ISP TalkTalk for an as yet undisclosed sum. The deal could be formally announced within the next few days.

BDUK Publish Evaluations of UK Gigabit Broadband Programmes

UK Gov Confirm Scotland to Get £450m for Gigabit Broadband Upgrade

The UK Government has finally revealed that Scotland’s share of the £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout scheme will be an “estimated” £450m, although market engagement work is ongoing (i.e. getting feedback from suppliers) and has yet to reach the procurement stage – this was originally supposed to happen in the autumn.

ASA Enforce New Mid-Contract Price Hike Rules for UK Broadband ISPs

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) will tomorrow officially begin to enforce new guidance for how UK broadband ISPs and mobile network operators should communicate mid-contract prices hikes to consumers, which could make such policies clearer and more transparent. Survey – 29% of UK Businesses Not Ready for End of Old Phone Lines
