Telecoms network operator KCOM, which is the incumbent broadband provider for Hull and has also deployed their full fibre (FTTP) network across other parts of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire (England), has revealed that they’ve reached an agreement with their lenders and shareholders to restructure their current capital structure.

The Director of Home and TV at BT, Luciano Oliveira, yesterday confirmed that broadband ISP EE had “connected its first customer to an 8Gbps full fibre service“, which he said made them the “first major ISP in the UK to reach this milestone” – obviously ignoring smaller players like Youfibre [Netomnia] and B4RN etc. that have done it for a while.

Broadband and mobile operator VMO2 (Virgin Media and O2) have today revealed that they’ve achieved their digital inclusion goals under the Better Connections Plan, which among other things means that they’ve “helped close the digital divide” by providing 1 million UK people with free mobile data, devices, and greater access to its network in rural areas.

The Welsh Government (WG) have this week appointed FarrPoint to undertake an Open Market Review (OMR) to provide an “updated view of superfast broadband connectivity” across Wales at the premises level. The move is intended to help inform their £70m (public subsidy) Extending High Speed Broadband (EHSB) project.
