Challenger broadband provider Home Unity has today announced that they’re expanding their reach across the North West and West Midlands by onboarding with Freedom Fibre’s alternative full fibre (FTTP) network, which is itself in the process of merging with Truespeed (here) in order to cover a total combined footprint of 412,000 premises ‘Ready for Service’.

The specialist broadband provider for the UK education market, Talk Straight (aka – Schools Broadband), has today announced that they’ve been chosen to deliver “high‑capacity Internet circuits” to Bristol City Council (BCC) in England – part of a new contract valued at up to £2.9 million.

Mobile operator O2 (Virgin Media) and network technology provider Ontix have this morning reported that they’ve successfully deployed their first 4G and 5G capable Small Cells in the Somerset (England) city of Bath, which will boost local data capacity (mobile broadband) for their network.

Network access provider Openreach (BT) are understood to be preparing a new 100Gbps capable Cablelink (Ethernet) solution to support their future 8.5Gbps speed full fibre (FTTP / XGS-PON) broadband products for UK homes. But initially any retail providers taking part in the XGS-PON pilot will need to use multiple 10G Cablelinks for capacity.
