Plus Net are the worst!

First of all they tricked me into switching by promising Fiber, but gave me ADSL with a lame excuse blaming OpenReach not being ready. I explicitly said I would only switch to them if they had fiber and they guaranteed they did.

Second, I was without internet for almost 2 weeks until their service started.

Third, I'm often seeing 1, 2 megabits speeds and the connection drops often. I was promised 15. And I know my megabits from my megabytes, I work in IT. Their connection is totally awful.

Finally, after more than a year, I'm switching to a new provider, and they refused the initial cancellation request with a lame excuse that they thought I wanted to stay because of a change I made in my account online, or something along those lines. I had to restart the process.

Omg PlusNet, if I had more time on my hands I would talk to layer and sue for such a terrible treatment.

I live just north of Belfast in Northern Ireland. I have been with PlusNet since early 2012. I have never been less than happy with the service I'm getting. The only problem I've had is about a year ago when I awoke one morning at 3.00am. I decided to view BBC iPlayer but my internet was down. I immediately rang their service desk and they had me up and running again within about the space of 15min. I would recommend them.

Plusnet ADSL broadband is just awful in my area…. Pretty much every ISP I tried in this area is.

BT DSL checker says my line range is 4.5mbps to 6.5mbps however I only get 2mbps to 3.7mbps via Ethernet (if I am lucky) Wi-Fi speed is worse! The router is connected to the master socket, my socket has no phone or extension etc but sadly whatever I do I just can’t improve the speed, I bought decent routers and still no improvement (There routers/modem are crap and so restrictive, YOU can’t even change DNS ffs!!?). I did at one point get 5mbps to 5.5mbps (pretty good considering how awful my exchange is) but this is no longer the case. BT engineer who came last week told me the speed was capped at 4mbps so he made a call to get it unrestricted.
I can’t stream videos without buffering sometime videos at 360p to 460p buffers. Been with them since 2009 and even went on to fibre when they introduced it which was also crap and now I am finally saying goodbye. Years of frustration calls and complaints has taken a toll. I didn’t really bother to move sooner due to our BT exchange being about 1+mile in cable distance (BT engineer told me) going to try out Fibre again but I if I get less than 38mbps with Fibre I will have to find other ways to get internet. Virgin don’t operate cable in my area….. So not a options…. My only hope is Relish 4G Broadband to cover my area soon. The Poplar exchange is awful to put it politely. This is London and we have piss poor broadband speed worse than villages and all we hear the scrounging politicians waffling about is improving lives with technology blah blah blah investing in fast internet blah blah yet no substance. This is the financial hub and people suffer piss poor internet speed ffs! Sometime my connection drops to 0.28mbps (worse than old dial up ffs)

Plusnet, BT, TalkTalk (We will all do YOU!)

The first point to emphasise is the value of the broadband package. £12.49 a month is very reasonable for 'up to' 17Mb. That said, of course, you do get what you pay for. Plusnet isn't cheap and cheerful, though, I found the quality of service to really rather good.

I didn't quite achieve 17Mb download speed, rather about 14Mb or so, but to be honest I've come to expect that from most broadband packages. In fact, several years back I only received about 1Mb from a Virgin fibre optic package (supposed to be over 30!), I think due excessive demand in the area. So, 14 isn't bad at all considering!

The stability of the service is generally good, but isn't without its failures. This tends to be a drop in speed rather than total breakdown, but the upside is that these occurances are quite rare and the customer service is great.

Overall I'd say Plusnet is a solid choice, if not quite spectacular, perhaps unless you require higher download speeds.

I know many don't rate Plusnet's customer services, but really they're not that bad.
I've had a mostly fault free service, and while they did screw up over a package change, they rectified their mistake quickly.
It's also nice to be able to phone an 0800 number

After some 2 years of being with PlusNet I had to raise a fault on 7th Feb 2016 as my upload speed was below the Min FTTC A Low range, this is still on going some 13 weeks later.

After Openreach visits on 11th, 21st & 28th of April all they managed to do was drop my download speed from 49Mbps to it's current level 34.8Mbps on an 80/20 service.

After complaining to Andy Baker PlusNet's CEO I managed to get a Complaint's Advisor assigned but so far all I have been offered is to leave PlusNet penalty free, put up with the 29% drop in speed for the same cost, drop onto a 40/10 service while staying in contract then once the contract ends drop to their 40/2 service.

PlusNet have basically failed to get Openreach to correct the issues they have caused and now advise I will have to pay for a further Openreach visit if they fail to find the fault they caused in the first place. My upload and download are now less than the FTTC A Low Range, ping had almost doubled, attenuation has increased and power levels on the line have dropped!

AVOID PLUS(MINUS)NET LIKE THE PLAGUE. They don't care about you or the service they provide and their advertising is totally misleading.

PlusNet - We'll do you!

Title: Rubbish
Been with Plusnet for over six years. I phoned them because my bill was getting more expensive each month. The sales support wanted to put me on another plan, but he didn't inform me I would have to start a new 12 month contract. I agreed to the new plan and after 1 month my Bill wasn't any cheaper than the old plan, so I decided to switch provider. I was then informed I had to pay £132 cancellation fee. They lied about telling me of the new 12 month contract. I feel I shouldn't have to pay any money to switch provider. Plusnet support is rubbish and the don't care about customer loyalty. I will never recommended Plusnet to anyone.

Update...

Now on FTTC (40/20) I get around 23 mbps nearly half the max speed. PN say if I get slower than 15 mbps they will 'look into it' that's slower than ADSL2+! I shall review and think about changing ISP when my contract ends in July 2016.

I have been a plusnet customer for about 5 years, always on 12 month contracts with my own router.
I live in a remote area so have particular problems with speed and generally I have had to sort those out myself excepting plusnet eventually admitting they had initially imposed a 1Mbps cap on the circuit citing excessive errors. Now I have been running just over 3Mbps for a few years partly due to rewiring the house and partly due to router tweeking using DSLSTATS.
I have experienced very few problems caused by plusnet, at my speed there is no apparent traffic management, minimal service outages (maybe 2/year) and back up in an hour or so. Costwise they have always been ready to undercut whatever other quotes I get but I think you have to be prepared to do your research to get this service, I have just renewed for line rent only with weekend and eve calls inclusive, unlimited bb, very good :):):) the one downside is call waiting times on there support line but hey i only have to use it once a year!!
overall happy satisfied customer :)
Ohh I dont use any services so plumped for 5 in the middle.

Boss signed us up at work. took most of the day to get a working connection - the router came "preconfigured" - except the details were completely wrong.

We had a user name but no password in the welcome letter; finally found the password in a different email sent later - but not easy when you dont actually HAVE internet access!!

We got exactly what I expected from the help desk - a labyrinth of "for x press 1, for y press 2 " and an estimated 45 minute wait (hung up after nearly an hour on hold).

I am sorry PN, but if you VALUE your customers, you dont keep them on hold, listening to scratchy recordings of 1980s music all day.

When we finally got a connection it seemed very slow, Speedtest.net gave nearly 10Mb, but the BBC News website took forever to load, so I have to wonder if PN are gaming the speedtests.

Value - I dont care how cheap it is, if you cant get the support you need WHEN you need it, it is a worthless service.
