Title: Zen
Decent ISP not as good as some suggest.
Biggest flaw and the reason I left them after 3-4 years they give out your personal details with ease.
If anyone contacts them they give out your personal details and in my opinion this is a valid reason never to be a customer.
Support is ok not great better knowledge than most but still pretty limited (by wage structure I assume).
Now I would consider it pretty dated ISP like Bethere.uk lagging way behind the competition. Zen never was going to be a major player which was the reason I joined in the first place.
As I now use my internet purely for mails and even that less so since mobile technology improved Sky is fine.
There are other ISP's that do not shape/manage out there. Zen tends to get a better write-up than they really merit.

I am with Sky though not for long. Sky well what can I say. Cheap ISP yes good ISP err that would be no.
If I ever wanted more than basic mail from an ISP I would not be with SKY. Do they shape/manage traffic well the answer to that is simple yes as does Virgin and this would be on all their packages.
Customer Service/Technical hmm trade description act really. Technical advisors have on a scale of 1-10 a skill of 2. The technicians and I use the word very loosely have a very very basic skill set. If I phone to query a problem a scripted answer is going to be of no use to me.
I am CCIE certified so generally most explainations offered to me insult my intelligence. SKY make a great deal about being unlimited and unmanaged but this is just plainly untrue. Dropping connection is common on sky and at peak times more so. Highly populated poorly managed ISP.

Ok I must admit they used to suck bigtime. Again I agree that the call centre technicians are hopeless and totally unskilled scripted sales rejects.
Thing is though they do have a very good product in the Infinity fibre to box (cabinet). Someone said that P2P was not throttled (managed / shaped) smirk! ah ! it is you know.
One thing B.T does throttle / manage is P2P.
If you are not a torrent user or you are a smart one (and I am not going to tell you how to do anything) then Infinity is a very good product just like Ipod was for Apple.

My score is only for Infinity and no other package offered by B.T

A common mistake by people is to think that fibre to cabinet needs fibre to the house.
Not true it would be nice but much more expensive.
Twisted pair can carry 10 gigabit Ethernet so it is capable of running at very high speeds cost effectively. The speed and delivery to the cabinet is fibre so the length of twisted pair would not be that much to the household. Its the length of the twisted pair which would be the limiter.
