ISP Orange UK (France Telecom) has issued its latest first quarter results to the end of March 2010, which shows that the provider is still shedding broadband subscribers and has dropped from 840,000 in Q4-2009 to 816,000 now (-24k). One big consolation, that drop is significantly less than the -59k seen between Q3 and Q4 2009.

Internet and phone provider TalkTalk ( AOL UK , Tiscali , Opal ) has posted a new Trading Statement to reveal its latest fourth quarter 2009 results. The operator ended last year with their total broadband subscriber base rising from 4.155m in Q3-2009 to 4.197m in Q4 (+42k net additions, up on Q3's +36k).

Wireless Gigabit Alliance™ (WiGig), which seeks to advance the worldwide adoption and use of 60GHz wireless networking technology, has published a unified specification for its approach and opened an Adopter Program. Reports claim that Orange UK, which is currently in the process of merging with former rival T-Mobile UK, has once again decided to revive its long-held ambitions to launch a broadband ISP based TV ( IPTV ) product in Britain. A telecoms analyst working for Ovum has warned that the rollout of future 4G ( LTE , WiMAX ) Mobile Broadband services in the UK could be delayed until 2013 because a new incoming government might be reluctant to deal with the situation for another year or more. This could potentially damage cross-party plans to make a minimum broadband speed of 2Mbps available to everybody in the country by 2012.
