TELEFONICA UK SELECTS ZYXEL MODEMS FOR WHOLESALE ISP CUSTOMERS
Telefónica UK Limited today announced that it has selected award-winning broadband access vendor ZyXEL Communications as its preferred supplier of modems to its Wholesale DSL customers. ZyXEL will supply its Prestige 630 ADSL USB Modem via UK distribution partners Electronic Frontier Limited and Comtec with local, technical assistance from ZyXEL's support centre in Portsmouth. Following an evaluation of the P630 series, Telefónica UK was impressed by its straightforward plug-and-play installation, user-friendliness, high performance, free maintenance and, most importantly, its competitive price and compliance with BT.
"We are pleased to have signed this agreement with such a focused and customer oriented network provider," said Richard Sutherland, dealer manager, ZyXEL Communications UK Ltd. "By supplying such award-winning hardware to Telefónica UK's DSL market we are expanding our large market-share across Europe into the UK."
"Our agreement with ZyXEL highlights a mutual, unfaltering commitment to addressing the diverse service and support requirements of UK ISPs, enabling them to differentiate themselves in a fiercely competitive marketplace," commented Tony Shields, sales and marketing director, Telefónica UK "The P630 modem is a welcome addition to our wholesale:services portfolio and we look forward to exploring further cooperation with ZyXEL in the future."
The P630 has been around for awhile now and is used by many UK providers, mostly for its budget affordability. We personally found it to be one of the slowest at establishing a connection, although that's nothing to worry about.
