Orange UK Mobile Data and Land Line Broadband ISP Service Restored
By: MarkJ - 11 September, 2009 (8:26 AM) - Views: 842 - Categories: Fixed Line Broadband, Mobile Broadband

orange logoMobile operator Orange UK appears to have suffered a double whammy of allegedly unrelated Internet service outages between Wednesday and Thursday this week. Both their mobile data ( Mobile Broadband ) and home land-line broadband services were struck by the problems, which prevented an unknown number of customers from getting online.

It's not known what caused the home broadband service to go down, although Orange hints that the mobile outage was most likely caused by vandals cutting one of its essential cables near Heathrow (London). Roughly half of the operator’s mobile data users are believed to have been affected.

Happily the service has now been restored and Orange has apologised for the troubles.

this might explain why orange didnt provide me with broadband service for two days last week, but how come my mobile signal was down for three days too.

I had friends sending me texts on tuesday and wednesday last week and I didnt recieve them till Friday, and when I phoned the helpline they said there was not a problem even though... all text messages sent via O2, vodafone, and three were shown as pending on friends phones which were being sent to me...

Doesn't the fact that a line to a very substantial number of this operator's customers was able to be tampered with in such, I presume, easy way. What is going on?
