Broadband ISP supplier Entanet UK has taken a few shots at developments in the USA, which recently saw Google and Verizon moot a highly controversial proposal for tackling Net Neutrality (the principal of treating all internet traffic as equal) that would effectively exclude wireless carriers, potentially creating a two-tier Internet.

Businesses in Wales look set to benefit after ZyXEL UK, a broadband access solutions provider, and ISP Carrier Wales (CW) teamed up to help deliver fibre optic 'uncontended' connectivity with services from 10Mb to 1Gb to businesses across the country. CW also adds WiMAX wireless broadband technology on to the end of their 'hardwired network, allowing high-speed Internet that can reach out to more remote rural communities.

The UK Broadband Group (UKBG), which operates a little known fixed wireless ISP called 'NOW Wireless' and also supplies B2B services over its array of licenses for the wireless spectrum, has said that WiMAX is not dead. Indeed it claims that the tech might soon be used to help the government achieve its 2015 target to bring a minimum broadband speed of at least 2Mbps to everybody in the country.

Mobile operator Vodafone UK has finally launched its own portable battery powered Wi-Fi Mobile Broadband USB Modem router (Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R201), which others prefer to call MiFi. The device will allow up to five people to simultaneously connect to the internet over the Vodafone network. Three (3) mobile offers something similar.

The community based Mawr Development Trust (MDT), which represents the rural villages of Craigcefn Parc, Felindre and Garnswllt north of Swansea in Wales (UK), could become one of the first beneficiaries of the Welsh Assembly’s new 'Broadband Support Initiative'. The news follows a successful 15Mbps speed wireless internet access trial by TFL Group, which was delivered into Felindre's village hall.
