Three UK Launches Fun Public Campaign for a 30% Mobile Spectrum Cap

Mobile operator Three UK has taken a leaf out of TalkTalk’s “Fix Britain’s Internet” book and launched a new campaign (‘Make the Air Fair‘), which adopts the image of Ofcom’s CEO, Sharon White, and calls on her to impose a spectrum ownership cap of 30% that would hit EE (BT) and Vodafone.

MS3 Starts Build of Trial FTTH Ultrafast Broadband Network in Hull UK

Communications provider MS3 has today begun the roll-out of their new “ultrafast” Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) based broadband network in West Hull (East Yorkshire, England), which is supported by an initial investment of £500K and will cover a trial area of roughly 1,200 homes.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk Removes Setup Fees for Black Friday

TalkTalk has informed us that their Black Friday offer removes all setup fees from their broadband packages and TV bundles, which for example could save £25 off their ‘up to’ 38Mbps “Faster Fibre Broadband” (FTTC) service. Various half-price TV offers will also run on their Sky Cinema and Sports content.

Cable ISP Virgin Media UK Cuts Standalone Superfast Broadband Prices

Virgin Media has cut the price of their standalone 50Mbps superfast broadband (Solus) package for the first 12 months of service, which drops the monthly package price to just £18 per month (£32.25 thereafter) + £14.99 one-off activation. A similar deal exists on their 100Mbps and 200Mbps options.

ITS Deploys “Ultrafast” Wireless Broadband to Rural Cheshire Estate

The ITS Technology group has improved the broadband connectivity to the Bolesworth Estate in rural South Cheshire (England) by installing a new “ultrafast” fixed wireless access network. The estate, which covers some 6,300+ acres, is home to various residential, business and leisure properties.

Relish Study Finds 60% of UK People Only Take Line Rental for Broadband

A new OnePoll survey of 2,000 UK adults from broadband ISP Relish Wireless, which operates a superfast fixed wireless 4G network in Swindon and central London, has found that 18% of respondents don’t even know their home phone number and 60% only take a land line to get broadband.

UK ISP Plusnet Slash FTTC Broadband and Phone Prices for Black Friday

Internet provider Plusnet has today joined the Black Friday discounts club by slashing the prices of their ‘up to’ 17Mbps ADSL and superfast (38-76Mbps) FTTC based “fibre broadband” and line rental bundles, with between £2-£4.50 being knocked off the monthly rental prices.

30,000 Premises in Coventry to Get Virgin Media’s 300Mbps Broadband

Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has today announced that the city of Coventry in the West Midlands (England) will be the next to benefit from the on-going expansion of their TV and 300Mbps capable ultrafast broadband and TV network, with 30,000 additional homes and businesses set to be covered.

Chancellor Details FTTP Broadband Investment and Business Rates Relief

The Chancellor of the United Kingdom, Philip Hammond, has today given his first Autumn Statement 2016 and revealed a bit of extra detail about the plan to encourage investment worth £1bn+ towards the roll-out of ultrafast pure fibre optic broadband (FTTP/H) and 5G Mobile. Business rates will also be cut.

EE Calls for Clarity on Geographic UK Mobile Network Coverage
