TT may claim to have thousands of satisfied customers, but all I can say is that those must be users who have never had to contact TT\'s so called customer support.
Letters, including follow up reminders go unanswered. Emails either go unanswered or fail to address the problem. Staff at the call centre (when you can get through)are often unintelligible and sometimes downright rude and offensive. Even when they are intelligible the information which they give is usually incorrect. Billing is also a disgrace, with charges sometimes being levied for services which were not provided and promised refunds failing to appear on the account.

Was with PlusNet using around 4Gb a month but got fed up with their \'throttling\' in March. Moved to TalkTalk as there is a 30 day trial. Initially I was getting less than 2Mb, not the 5Mb - 7Mb speeds that Plusnet had been providing. Contacted their technical number. Ten minutes later (at 10p minute, not bad)and I\'m back at my old speeds. Yes, I\'ve seen all the bad press - worse scene scenario I\'ll move and pay the ?70 fee, but at ?20 month for phone, line rental and internet (40Gb cap) I\'m a fairly happy bunny at the moment.

Since my exchange was LLU\'ed!, My download speed has reduced to about 50kpbs from 1meg, After reading various forums it appears that this issue is common, So what are Talktalk doing about it?, NOTHING they do not accept that an issue exists and calls to there support are just soul destroying and a complete waste of time as well as expensive to talk to someone who is not going to help, Just a joke really!!

I have just recently joined Talk Talk and after 2 weeks of signing up have this honest review for you.
The technical and customer service sadly is from India and the staff even though very helpful and kind struggle to undertand simple/complex problems and lack technical knowledge. When I had no ADSL light (router fault) I was told to delete \'cookies\' duh! The 2nd technical service (advanced technical) had me waiting 30 mins (still didn\'t get through). In the end I messed with the router settings and got it to work myself! Great priced broadband company if things work from the go, bad it you encounter technical problems. Really bad !!

Free broadband? Great idea, let\'s have it. Local Loop Unbundling, so\'s you can get away from BT entirely? Fine - it\'s a free country, let\'s have no monopolies. But service and honesty have to be there - and I\'ve had precious little of either since I waited 8 weeks to get on. Since then - and it\'s only been a month - there have been problems with email and huge waits on helplines. Now, there\'s been no bb service at all for the last 3 days and still no idea when it will re-appear. You ring em and they say either: problem what problem, it must be you / yes there\'s a problem, we\'re fixing it please try later / it\'s all BT\'s fault. DON\'T GO THERE

I'm currently on 1MB but get 819km downloads speeds, recently looked at their website, and they are offering 2mb at ?17.99, yet after phone calls and emails they are still charging me ?20.90 for 1mb, the worse part is that oringally they were charging me ?25.00 until I point out that their website had a cheaper price. Customer service is non existant, they never answer the telephone or respond to emails. Differing price plans for different customers, and I'm still waiting for a refund for when they overcharged, Best option, find someone else, there's plently of broadband isp, vote with your feet.

Fine until I moved house.
It took 14 phone calls 2 emails and 4 letters to acheive this though. They don't seem to answer any letters though.

I was disconnected from broadband for over a month and from there phone calls for 3 months, each time I called I was told it would take 10 days to fix and I should call back then!

During this time I was charged double at both addresses.

When I was eventually connected it was to the wrong package.

When I cancelled the service after the 12 month contract, they disconected me early and charged me ?70 for breaking the contract.

Customer services take about 20minutes to answer.

Some defence of Talktalk. I have been with them since Jan05. So far they have been fine. Even though I am only on 512kb. The only gripe was when I lost connection for about 2 weeks, which turned out to be a faulty router, and a faulty replacement, they did try to help, and it was not their fault. I gave them 2 stars due to the cost of the premium rate tech line. I am looking to move now purely as I want a faster line, but they are a lot dearer than when I joined, I am only paying ?23pm for unlimited bb and phone. so 5 stars for price.

Barely been with TalkTalk broadband for 3 months and I have to say I'm not impressed. 2MB broadband but download speed rarely ever got past 140KB/s(as compare to a friend of mine who's using 2MB from UKOnline and constantly getting over 200KB/s). Their customer's support is, to many extents, useless(if you're unlucky then you might get a rude one as well).Technical's help is a bit better but charge you at ?0.5 per minute after 14 days(which is a total rip-off).Their Sagem modem is only fit for the bin as it's extremely unstable(kept disconnecting me after 2-3 hours). Not as bad for me as others might have susgested but bad enough to be avoided

Please do NOT make the same mistake as I and thousands of others have done in making Talk Talk your internet service provider.I could go on for ages telling of the numerous problems I have had with them but I simply don\'t have the time.Suffice to say their \"service\" is an absolute disgrace.
Instead of an increase in my internet speed it has actually halved on their so called 8 meg service(down to paltry 0.25 meg...B.T. tell me I am capable of receiving up to 7 meg!) and they say there is nothing they can do about it.
To cut a (very)long story short avoid paying the ?70 cancellation charge by simply staying well clear in the first place!
