Easter 1999, Screaming.net,
the first off-peak unmetered dialup ISP launched to a colossal reception in
the UK. Thousands joined up and by early June problems quickly became
obvious. It was at this time that a small team of technologists and
web developers decided people would need a forum for their news and
problems.
ISPreview (ISPr) was finally founded on the 1st June 1999 by Mark Jackson as a spare-time
project. Soon after the site was put on hold, while we secured a new
web host and developed more interactive features and content. The site
finally went 100% public with the new web host and content on 9th November
1999.
Today ISPr is one of the UKs biggest forums for Internet Service Provider news,
reviews, articles and discussion. Recognised by TV, Newspapers and magazines
alike, the site has seen unprecedented growth since the first few people
visited all those years ago.
Built on compatibility, interactivity and the ability to listen, ISPr
continues to expand with the aid of its readers whom help to shape it. Amazingly, it's still a spare-time project, just as it was several
years ago when it first started. During this time the website has gone through a lot of changes and is currently on its third generation design, earlier versions can be viewed below:
