Business ISP Andrews & Arnold ( AAISP ) has revealed that it will launch its own mobile data ( Mobile Broadband ) service in
October 2010, although this is still subject to final confirmation with the carrier. The product will consist of 3G data SIM cards that allow full IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity using AAISP IP address space and routing.
Feature Highlights
* Fixed IP address mobile devices
* IPv6 mobile devices (subject to mobile device support)
* DSL alternative with blocks of IPv4 addresses, and IPv6 for non-NAT internet connections
* Connection via AAISP network with no filtering or proxies or black boxes just like our broadband and Ethernet services.
* 3G DSL fall-back allowing data SIM to take over routing of all of your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses directly. We expect to be selling equipment to support DSL routers and 3G and bonding in November.
* Corporate network handover via L2TP, have mobiles connect directly in to your own office network. No need for VPN setup or support on the mobile.
* Simple tariff with no minimum usage levels or minimum term.
It's clear from the above details that AAISP are seeking to go well beyond the dynamic or NAT IP services that most consumer mobile operators provide for their customers. The service is tightly focused upon business needs.
However AAISP's packages could prove less attractive, depending on how you "
value" the above benefits. The ISP will charge
£10 for the SIM and £2 per month for access, although you won't get any data (usage allowance) bundled and will instead pay
2.5p +vat per MegaByte (MB) consumed. No minimum term contract.
Details of roaming data availability and costs have yet to surface and the above service has no minimum contract term. It's certainly not cheap but then this is designed for the business environment. It will be interesting to see which operator AAISP have chosen to work with.
