Anybody who has been wondering how BT would make use of their new 4G mobile spectrum and EE MVNO deal now has a partial answer. The UK telecoms giant has today launched its new 4G (LTE) based mobile plans, which also include unlimited wifi “at no extra cost“. But residential consumers will have to wait a little longer.

The latest survey of 1,377 ISPreview.co.uk visitors has reported that 67.5% of respondents do not receive the broadband speed that their ISP first estimated, with most experiencing significantly slower performance than originally anticipated and the rest (27.3%) getting either exactly what they were promised or a faster service.

Consumers wanting to know whether or not they are covered by and can receive a superfast broadband connection using BTOpenreach’s ‘up to’ 80Mbps Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) technology will, from today, now be given a more useful result after the national UK telecoms operator updates their availability test to include Street Cabinet status.

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Imperial College Business School has examined 15 years’ worth of data to identify the impact on UK house prices of faster Internet access. The conclusion found that property prices increase by an average of around 3% when the available broadband speeds doubled.

Internet provider PlusNet has reduced the price of their superfast ‘up to’ 38Mbps capable Unlimited Fibre (FTTC) broadband and Home Phone product, with packages now starting from just £3.75 per month for the first 6 months (£14.99 thereafter).
