The Bromley Borough Council in London is reportedly struggling to match an allocation of funding from the central UK Government, which could have otherwise been used to help expand the coverage of superfast broadband to residents of the rural Downe village, as well as Cudham, Keston and Chelsfield.

The Superfast Staffordshire project in the West Midlands (England), which also includes Stoke-on-Trent, has just signed a second Broadband Delivery UK contract under the Superfast Extension Programme (SEP) and it should bring “fibre broadband” to even more areas.

South Yorkshire ISP Origin Broadband has today launched a new website specifically for its business customers (business.originbroadband.com) and in order to entice new subscribers they’re offering “Completely FREE fibre broadband” (up to 76Mbps FTTC) with “Free line rental” for the first 12 months of service (£30 per month thereafter).

The Connecting Cambridgeshire project, which is currently working with BT to make superfast broadband speeds available to 90% of premises in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (England) by the end of 2015, has signed an extended Broadband Delivery UK contract that should push the coverage up to around 95% by the end of 2017.

The latest survey of 2,725 ISPreview.co.uk readers has found that the quality of the router that big broadband ISPs bundle with their Internet access packages does have an impact on whether consumers choose a particular provider, with 36.9% saying it was important to their choice. But most would also like more choice.
