Cityfibre, which runs a growing number of ultrafast Gigabit capable fibre optic (FTTP) broadband networks across UK cities, has today announced that they’re starting work to commercialise 82km of pure fibre network assets in Bristol (England). But they’ll have some local competition.

The latest statistics from Point Topic reveal that the total number of world fixed broadband subscriptions reached approximately 738 million in Q3 2015, with the vast majority of growth being driven by fibre optic (FTTH/C/P) based technologies; albeit mostly in parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Selkirk-based ISP TenTel has launched a new range of broadband and phone packages that also allow new customers to take a cut price Roku video streaming box for plugging into their TV, which allows access to a variety of catch-up (iPlayer, 4oD etc.) and premium TV (NOW TV, Netflix etc.) services.
