Cityfibre to Deploy 20km Fibre Optic Network in the City of Stirling (Scotland)

Fibre optic network builder Cityfibre has confirmed that Stirling will shortly become their 4th “Gigabit City” project in Scotland, thanks to a £1.7m deal to support the roll-out of a new FTTP based Public Service Network (PSN) that will later be extended to local businesses.

It’s been nearly a year since BT first soft launched their new ‘BT Call Protect‘ service to tackle nuisance calls (here), which allows their home phone customers to divert unwanted calls to a junk voicemail box. The good news is that the “first of its kind in the UK” service is finally available to use.

The Connecting Devon and Somerset project has revealed that their Phase 1 roll-out of “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) services with BT (Openreach) will miss its target by far more than the “circa 1,700 premises” that was claimed in December 2016; it has actually fallen short by c.11,000.
