Openreach Remove 35ft Poles from Exeter UK Street After Locals Moan

Openreach’s (BT) attempts to bring “full fibre” (FTTP) broadband services to the suburbs of Exeter (Devon) have been met with anger on Armstrong Avenue, where residents complained that the new 35ft telegraph poles are too tall, “ugly” and some also appear to be bent. Thankfully a solution has already been found.

Business Rates Deal Means Cash for West Sussex Gigabit Broadband UPDATE

The Crawley Borough Council have announced that West Sussex (England) has been successful in its bid to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which means that 75% of business rates collected can now be kept locally. Most of the extra money will go toward Gigabit broadband upgrades.

Scottish Sea Farms Help Rural Drimnin Get 50Mbps Wireless Broadband

Some 57 properties in the isolated rural village of Drimnin (West Highlands, Scotland) can now access broadband speeds of up to 50Mbps. 2018 H2 – UK Superfast Broadband Coverage Slowly Edges to 96%

A new independent model has estimated that the coverage of fixed “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) ISP networks across the United Kingdom has grown to 95.8% at the end of 2018 (up from 95.3% in H1 2018), while “full fibre” (FTTP/H) networks now reach 5.47% of premises (up from 3.82% in H1).
