The outgoing CEO of telecoms and broadband giant BT Group, Philip Jansen, has this afternoon called on the Chancellor of the UK government, Jeremy Hunt, to use his forthcoming Spending Review to help support investment in the roll-out of full fibre (FTTP) broadband by making “Full Expensing” a permanent change.

The CEO of alternative rural network operator and UK ISP Quickline, Sean Royce, has today done an interesting video interview with Richard Tang, CEO of Zen Internet, which among other things reveals that their new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network now covers 65,000 premises passed.

Business communications and broadband ISP Spitfire has today announced an extension of their existing partnership with UK network operator CityFibre, which will enable them to sell the operator’s layer 2 business Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband product to customers.

Network builder and broadband ISP Brsk has announced that they’ve added the two West Yorkshire towns of Brighouse and Elland to their ongoing roll-out plan for a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the Midlands of England (rollout plan). The expansion will also include surrounding locations.

The Chief Security and Networks Officer of UK ISP BT (inc. EE and Plusnet), Howard Watson, has today published a blog post that reveals the approach they intend to take with customers as part of Openreach’s plan to close around 4,600 exchanges across the country – starting with a pilot in Deddington, Ballyclare and Kenton Road.

Oxfordshire in England has today been named as one of the first places to benefit from the UK Government’s (DSIT) new £40m 5G Innovation Regions (5GIRs) fund, which was recently setup (here) to help local and regional authorities to test and adopt 5G and other advanced wireless broadband networks for homes and businesses.
