GSM Association estimates that connections to the current generation of HSPA based Mobile Broadband services will surpass the 150m mark by the end of this summer. The growth will not stop there and is expected to hit 200m connections by Q1-2010. Meanwhile Nokia has predicted that mobile data usage will outstrip voice traffic by 2011.

The Carphone Warehouse ( TalkTalk , AOL UK , Opal etc. ) has posted a new Interim Management Statement revealing its latest first quarter trading update. Not including May's recent £236m Tiscali UK acquisition (too soon), TalkTalk managed to add 47,000 (net) new broadband subscribers and push its total from 2.8m to 2.85m.

Hull's only broadband ISP,
Karoo (KCOM - Kingston Communications), has drawn anger from both the Open Rights Group and Consumer Focus after it emerged that the provider was disconnecting customers suspected of piracy and doing so without warning them first. The shocking situation has been made worse by the fact that residents of Hull have no other alternative but to use KCOM's ISP.

Six of the Flybe airline's 12 passenger lounges have now been equipped with BT Openzone's broadband wireless ( Wi-Fi ) Hotspot services, allowing customers access to the Internet. The airline’s lounges in Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gatwick and Glasgow have all been updated.

Network operator Entanet UK has warned that many broadband ISPs could be missing a "
competitive opportunity" by adopting a risky "
wait and see" approach to IPv6 adoption. The group, which supplies several ISPs and is itself an early adopter of IPv6, said that some providers could perhaps be deemed "

A new survey of 10,000 broadband customers conducted by
ConsumerChoices.co.uk has revealed that 50% have not changed their ISP even once in the past four years, yet over the same period prices are estimated to have fallen by 37%, while speeds have increased by 700% (we assume that refers to the 'advertised' rate; in 2005 headline speeds of 2Mbps were common).

Pay Monthly" customers, especially iPhone users, without Internet and MMS access after a problem with one of its related access points (APN) triggered a slew of connectivity issues. We have not seen any reports of O2 Mobile Broadband USB Modem users being affected, yet.
