BT, the national UK telecoms operator, has revealed that it is now home to a total of 5,691,000 retail broadband ISP subscribers and plans to push the maximum speed of its superfast fibre optic (FTTC) internet access services from 40Mbps to 80Mbps in 2012 and possibly even 100Mbps in the future.
