The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has officially opened voting for the 2013 Customer Choice Award, which allows people to rate which is the best ISP from a selection of nine very different providers (i.e. those which actually entered the award).

Angry Virgin Mobile customers with a pay-as-you-go or contract deal have been told that their 3G internet data download speeds are being restricted to a maximum of just 2Mbps (Megabits per second), which comes as part of a “trial” to help improve the networks performance amidst increasing congestion.

The WiSpire network, which works with the Diocese of Norwich and ISP FreeClix to roll-out wireless internet connectivity by installing wifi transmitters on top of church spires, has expanded its network coverage to four more villages in rural Norfolk (England, UK).

The CTO and Co-Founder of business ISP Timico UK, Trefor Davies, has called for a “total network rollout” of true fibre optic broadband (FTTP) services after highlighting how corrosion on his copper BT telecoms line had caused a recently installed FTTC service to drop from an average speed of 53Mbps to just 6Mbps (Megabits).

Cable ISP Virgin Media Business has expanded its free “superfast” public wireless (wifi) network into Bradford’s City Park by using the latest small cell technology. It is the second location in Bradford to benefit from the service after Bridge Street went live with an identical solution last year.
