VMO2 and Altnets risk hastening deregulation of Openreach’s UK broadband

Ofcom will shortly announce the outcome of their provisional proposal to block one of several discounts that Openreach (BT) had planned to help them stay competitive and attract new full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP customers. But a new report from Enders Analysis warns that rival networks might, in supporting the regulator, ultimately end up hastening the incumbent’s deregulation to their detriment.

Survey claims 32 percent of UK people can’t identify if a Wi-Fi network is secure

A new “nationally representative” survey of 3,000 UK adults, which was conducted by Censuswide during July 2026, has reported that 32% of respondents were not confident they could identify a secure public Wi-Fi network from a fake (spoofed) one. On the flip side, 73% of men did feel confident identifying secure Wi-Fi, compared with 64% of women.

Customers opening new Vodafone UK SIM-only accounts to get £100 bill credit

Mobile operator Vodafone has today announced that new customers who open a Pay Month SIM-Only account with a 24-month minimum term will also receive a £100 bill credit (worth the equivalent of a £4.16 a month saving) under their new Bill Credit Switcher Offer, which is clearly designed to encourage consumers on other operators to switch.

New OpenDigital project launched to improve mobile signals in Chichester

The West Sussex County Council (WSCC) in England has today begun the first infrastructure deployments under their new OpenDigital project, which aims to improve mobile network (4G, 5G signals etc.) coverage in Chichester city centre. The move comes after local residents and business owners complained about “weak and unreliable network coverage” in the area.

Grain expands 2Gbps UK full fibre broadband network in Birmingham

Carlisle-based alternative broadband provider Grain (Grain Connect) appears to be in the process of expanding their 2Gbps speed point-to-point full fibre (FTTP) network in the West Midland’s city of Birmingham, which already covers more than 900 postcodes in the area and is now set to reach many more.
