Rochdale-based UK ISP Zen Internet, which began selling packages via MS3’s full fibre (FTTP) network in parts of Hull (East Yorkshire) and Lincolnshire in June 2026, has now revealed that they’ve made even faster speeds of 2.5Gbps (2.3Gbps average) available to new residential and business customers covered by the network. Separately, more of Zen’s packages now include Wi-Fi 7 routers as standard.

The European Space Agency (ESA) has chosen satcom specialist neXat to lead a new €1.5m (£1.28bn) project that aims to create an automated satellite backup (failover) for when submarine fibre optic networks suffer outages (cable breaks). The new system will be supported by Telesat’s future Lightspeed constellation of ultafast broadband satellites in Low Earth Orbit.

Wireless infrastructure provider Freshwave, which naturally has its own vested interests, have today published their 2026 Mobile Connectivity ROI Index that claims poor indoor mobile network (4G, 5G etc.) connectivity could be damaging the UK economy to the tune of £103bn a year.

The member‑owned and not-for-profit London Internet Exchange (LINX), which manages a large chunk of UK and global data traffic through their switches via 900 members (broadband ISPs, mobile operators, CDNs etc.), has revealed that their secondary LON2 network has hit 1Tbps (Terabits / sec) of traffic as organisations opt for a second peering option to improve security and resilience.

Network access provider Openreach (BT) has today revealed that their recent adoption of two new and complementary AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools, which provide customers with clearer updates and immediate answers, are now helping to prevent more than 3,000 Full Fibre (FTTP) broadband cancellations every month.

Mobile operator and internet provider giffgaff, which has already made their new full fibre (FTTP) broadband packages available to 4.2 million premises via nexfibre and Virgin Media’s UK networks, has moved to further entice new customers to the service by offering to buy them out of their existing contracts (worth up to £300 in billing credits).

The Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) in England and consultancy firm FarrPoint have just completed their “most comprehensive survey of mobile coverage across the county to date“, which has resulted in the release of a new coverage map to help give residents a clearer picture of where mobile services are strong and where gaps remain. EE was found to deliver the “best coverage overall“.
