Mobile network operator EE has started October 2014 by announcing that another batch of 18 towns across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England can now receive their “superfast” 4G (4GEE – LTE at 1800MHz) based Mobile Broadband service, including Prince Harry’s old training grounds at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst.
Overall more than 75% of the United Kingdom’s population have now been put within reach of EE’s 4G service (i.e. a total of 281 large towns/cities and more than 2,500 villages/small towns) and this is anticipated to rise dramatically by the end of 2014.
The latest batch of upgrades include Abingdon, Ashton-In-Makerfield, Banbury, Brownhills, Corringham, Faversham, Fleetwood, Formby, Hebburn, Helensburgh, Hoddesdon, Holywood, Hythe, Prestatyn, Sandhurst, Spennymoor, Tilbury, Waltham Abbey, Warwick and Wombourne.
UPDATE 7:08am
Small correction to the number of towns (18 not 20), the mistake was made in EE’s original PR. Apparently Warwick and Banbury are not being launched today.
