Ofcom Details UK Framework to Support White Space Wireless Broadband

Ofcom UK has today proposed a new framework to support the future use of White Space (IEEE 802.22) based wireless broadband technology on a licence exempt basis. The new service harnesses unused radio spectrum, which exists between Digital TV channels (470MHz to 790MHz), to deliver wifi style connectivity over a wide area.

MS3 Signs Compass Infrastructure UK to Help Build Fibre Network in Hull

MS3 Communications has entered into a new partnership with another telecommunications developer, Compass Infrastructure UK (CI-UK), which will work alongside MS3 to help them build out their independent ultra-fast fibre optic broadband ISP network around Hull in Yorkshire (England).

UK ISPs Welcome Broadband Funding Approval But Seek More Competition

Internet service providers have today given a broad welcome to the European Commission’s (EC) recent decision to grant final approval for the release of State Aid funding to help 90% of UK people gain access to superfast broadband ISP services by spring 2015. Delayed GBP20m Hampshire UK Superfast Broadband Project Put to Tender

The Hampshire County Council (HCC) has officially started the formal tender process to appoint a commercial ISP partner for its Hampshire Broadband Programme, which is estimated to be worth close to £20m and will aim to make superfast broadband (25Mbps+) speeds available to almost everybody by around the middle of 2016.
