The latest quarterly update (calendar Q2 2018) from cable ISP Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has revealed that the operator’s UK network has now reached another 118,000 premises (up from 111K added in Q1), while their broadband subscriber base totals 5,166,500 (up by 30K in Q2, which is flat from 31.2K in Q1).

Cable broadband and TV operator Virgin Media has this week begun sending out “confidential” invites to what appears to be their first official customer trial of the IPv6 internet addressing standard, which until now has only been tested internally by the company’s staff (plus the occasional unexpected subscriber).

Cable ISP Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has published their latest Q4 2017 (calendar) results, which saw them pledge to introduce a new 350Mbps broadband tier and add 159,000 premises to their UK network coverage. Virgin’s total broadband base also grew by +24K in the quarter to total 5,104,300.

Customers on Sky Broadband’s UK network (around 6 million of them) are today generating a colossal level of internet data traffic that has already reached a total of around 8Tbps (Terabits per second). Meanwhile IPv6 adoption among the ISP’s subscriber base is at 90%+.

Urban fibre optic ISP Hyperoptic, which is rolling out their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB/P) broadband network to parts of 28 UK cities and towns, has today confirmed that they’ve started the roll-out of Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) and expect to finish the work in 2018.

The latest Q3 2017 (calendar) results from Virgin Media (Liberty Global) reveal that the operator has expanded their UK cable network to cover another 147,000 premises during the quarter, while broadband subscribers have risen to total 5,080,100 (up by +51.8K in Q3 vs +30.9K in Q2 and +80.7K in Q1).

UK) to fight serious international crime and terrorism, has called on broadband and mobile providers to end the use of Carrier Grade NAT (CGN) in order to “increase accountability online” and stop people “sharing the same IP address as a criminal.“

Cable operator Virgin Media has sent out invites for 100 employees to join a “secret” trial of their long awaited Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) network upgrade. Sources inform ISPreview.co.uk that accepted users will need to be connected to Virgin’s broadband service via a Hub 3.0 router.
