Ofcom has published their latest quarterly (Q2 2023) study of UK consumer complaints, which shames Vodafone as attracting the most gripes about broadband ISPs, while TalkTalk, Shell Energy and Virgin Media tied the lowest ranking for landline phone, BT did the same for Mobile services, and Virgin Media and BT came bottom for TV.

Broadband ISP Virgin Media (VMO2) has confirmed that they and nexfibre have just completed the expansion of their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network to serve an addition 24,000 homes and businesses in the West Yorkshire (England) Cathedral City of Wakefield.

Customers of UK broadband ISP Virgin Media O2 Business (VMO2), specifically those with a Static IP address assigned to their connection, are reporting that the provider suffered a major service outage yesterday that appears to have started at around midnight the day before and is still be impacting some users this morning.

Mobile network operator O2 (VMO2) has today refreshed some of their SIM Only “Pay As You Go” mobile plans (Big Bundles), which sees a number of their plans getting a data allowance (mobile broadband) boost for no extra cost. The £15 for 25GB “Rolling Plan” has also been boosted to 30GB, although the rest of their Rolling Plans are unchanged.

Mobile network operator giffgaff has just become the latest provider to introduce eSIM (Electronic SIM) support, although at present they only appear to be allowing existing customers with the operator’s latest Smartphone app installed (iOS App and Android App) – version 12.13.0-v337 or above – to transition from a physical to electronic SIM.

Mobile network operator giffgaff has launched a special autumn promotion that adds an extra 15GB of free data for the first six months of service to their existing 25GB SIM Only mobile plan (total of 40GB) for just £10 a month on an 18-month term. Opensignal has published their latest biannual Mobile Network Experience Report for H2 2023, which benchmarks the 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) services from all four primary UK mobile operators – EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK – to find which ones deliver the best performance. Overall, EE and Three UK seem to fair the best.

Mobile operator O2 (Virgin Media / VMO2) has today become the final operator to reveal their plan for switching off the old 3G mobile (mobile broadband) network, which unlike their rivals is a process that won’t actually begin until 2025. The withdrawal will then occur in phases, with completion by the end of that same year.
